Bihler
Component Development
At ARNIO, we develop components and tools for production using Bihler technology. This is a particularly material-efficient manufacturing in innovative punch-bend machines. In the so-called Multislide process, parts are manufactured from bar stock in a single pass—thereby utilizing the available material to produce the maximum number of finished parts. Material savings compared to conventional methods are estimated at 10%!

Our Services
ARNIO is your Bihler partner in Saxony and Lusatia
Would you like to know if your components are suitable for this process, or do you need assistance with component development or tooling? We are your experienced partner—please contact us. In collaboration with ARNELL, located at the same site, we offer fast and efficient production of even large quantities using our own Bihler Multislide machine.

Quick and easy testing and sampling of parts using our in-house machine.
punching and bending process
Less waste and more space in the warehouse
We demonstrate how the stamping and bending process saves costs and time using the example of the upper bracket for grating fasteners manufactured by ARNELL: a small component produced in high volumes for a price-sensitive market. Efficient manufacturing is crucial for success in this market. We have therefore optimized the component for processing on a stamping and bending machine.
By making design adjustments, we were able to switch from progressive die manufacturing to production using the Bihler LEANTOOL. While maintaining at least the same production speed, this allowed us to increase raw material utilization and reduce energy consumption, thereby lowering both our environmental footprint and unit production costs.
Incidentally, this step also makes it possible to the use of standardized raw tape configurations and thereby reduces the variety of items in the raw materials warehouse.

Benefits of standardization and access to an in-house Bihler machine at ARNIO:
- reducing design time
- streamlined procurement process
- reduced in-house processing
- short setup times on the machine
- individuality is preserved
FAQ
How does Bihler's punch-bend technology work?
Bihler technology is a specific type of metalworking and forming process developed by the Otto Bihler Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG was developed. A key feature is the Multislide process. This is a type of stamping and bending process in which a flat material, typically strip stock, is drawn through several guide rails (slides). These rails make it possible to move and process the material in multiple dimensions. This requires complex tooling systems that are specifically designed for the desired forming and machining tasks. The development of these tools is a specialty of ARNIO.
What are the benefits?
The process is characterized by high production speeds and a high degree of automation: By integrating various machining steps into a single machine cycle, production time is reduced and the need for manual intervention is minimized. Material savings compared to conventional manufacturing methods average 10%. This makes the process particularly sustainable in metalworking.
What is Bihler technology suitable for?
Bihler stamping and bending technology is highly versatile and can be used for the mass production of complex parts. The machines can be configured to process a variety of materials, such as metal or plastic. The process is used in various industries, including the automotive industry, electronics, medical technology, and many others, where high precision and efficiency in mass production are essential.
